The official portrait of former Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Micky Murray, has been unveiled at City Hall.
Created by local artist Mel Carroll, the new piece was commissioned as part of Belfast City Councilβs ongoing commitment to celebrating the cityβs creative talent. It will be displayed inside City Hall alongside portraits of previous Lord Mayors.
The latest unveiling honours a long-standing civic tradition to champion the city's vibrant arts and culture sector by providing each First Citizen with the opportunity to work with a local artist to mark their term in office.
The collection of mayoral portraits are viewed by thousands of visitors each year during daily tours of the building and include works by other renowned artists, including Colin Davidson, Robert Ballagh and Nicola Russell.
Councillor Murray became Belfastβs First Citizen in June 2024.
